Proposal: Engaging the community through transparency and education on upcoming construction projects

Research
With a number of major construction initiatives scheduled, the City of Watertown recognized the need for proactive public communication to address resident concerns and prepare the community for upcoming changes. Stakeholders—including residents, business owners, and local institutions—were identified as key audiences requiring clear, accessible information about potential disruptions and long-term project benefits.
Planning
The objective of the Spring Open House is to educate the public on construction timelines, locations, and expected impacts. The initiative is designed to foster understanding, build support, and mitigate concerns through transparent communication. The campaign will be developed in close collaboration with City departments to ensure accuracy and consistency across messaging. Targeted outreach will address the specific needs of residents, businesses, and schools.

Campaign success will be evaluated based on community attendance at the Open House, engagement on social media platforms, feedback from local stakeholders, and overall public sentiment. Adjustments and improvements will be informed by post-campaign surveys and analytics to guide future outreach efforts.
