Proposal: Engaging the community through transparency and education on upcoming construction projects

With several major construction projects on the horizon, the City of Watertown recognized the importance of proactive public communication to prepare residents, businesses, and institutions for potential disruptions while highlighting long term benefits. The Spring Open House was designed to educate the community about timelines, locations, and expected impacts through transparent and accessible messaging. The initiative emphasized collaboration across City departments to ensure consistent information and included targeted outreach tailored to the needs of different audiences. Deliverables ranged from press releases, social media graphics, and website resources to fact sheets, maps, infographics, and scripts for robocalls and SMS notifications. Information was shared through print, digital, in person, and mobile channels to maximize accessibility. Success was measured by attendance at the Open House, social media engagement, and community feedback, with post event surveys and analytics guiding recommendations for future outreach.
